A review of the admissions process.
In following Montessori School of Louisville's mission of offering a child-centered Montessori program that produces leaders, MSL's admission policy follows the following steps:
It’s never too early to begin the application process. Our Director of Admissions can be reached via
phone or
email. Your first conversation will be a chance to let us know how old your child is and what program you are interested in applying for. We will invite you to
schedule a visit to the school so that you may tour the campus and see in person what we have to offer.
MSL invites you to tour the campus with Marcia Kidd, our Director of Admissions. This visit gives prospective families a chance to see the school, and if scheduled during the school day, an opportunity to sit and observe a class at work. Before you leave, you will have the chance to meet with our administrative staff and ask any questions you may have. We find this initial visit is best attended by adults only. Students will have their own day to experience MSL later in the admissions process.
After meeting with our Director of Admissions, either in person or virtually, you will be sent a link to complete an application for admissions online and pay the non-refundable $75 application fee.
ASSESSING READINESS (Early Childhood ages 3 - 5 years) OR TESTING (Kindergarten - 8th grade): After the application for admission is received, MSL will contact you to schedule a time for your child to visit.
At the Early Childhood levels, teachers will spend time with your child assessing their readiness for school. At the kindergarten level, students are assessed for both their academic skill level as well as emotional needs. Additionally, teachers will request that children visit the classroom to observe their interactions with peers.
At the elementary level through middle school ages, students are also invited to spend time in the classroom. This allows the teacher to observe the student's interactions with their peers, as well as assess academic skills. MSL's admissions procedure takes into account our ability to accommodate particular student needs without disruption to the existing program. Students who have needs that fall within MSL's ability to accommodate may be accepted with additional stipulations. If applicable, school records must be received before an enrollment contract is offered.
Once the previous steps are completed, you will receive notification within one week concerning the status of your child's admission to Montessori School of Louisville. If results of the assessment support acceptance in the program, an Enrollment Contract will be offered. Please note that no student is accepted without an assessment and subsequent recommendation of the teacher.
Some exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.
A welcome to the MSL Community happens when the Enrollment Contract is completed online in combination with a non-refundable $400 tuition deposit within 2 weeks of enrollment offer.
Montessori School of Louisville welcomes and celebrates a diverse population and does not discriminate based on race, color, creed, national origin, sex, physical disabilities or sexual orientation. To the extent possible, the school strives to achieve a balance of gender and age in each classroom.
MSL reserves the right to admit and retain students on the basis of academic performance, philosophical compatibility, a willingness to cooperate with the MSL's administration, and abide by the school's policies.
“What a great place... full of great minds and very nice people.”
“Spent the morning being a Montessori parent for the Toddler Classroom with Ms. Kathy...can't say enough good things about Montessori School of Louisville!!!"
“The culture at MSL has been very good for our almost 2 year old. For the first time I do not worry about his well-being when he is away from home. We are so happy that we found MSL!"
